It's Finally Happening

Wes was stationed at Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs, CO. I was working for ODR (outdoor recreation) on the dark side of the base. Wes would come in and flirt with me while buying snickers and red bulls. Fast forward a year or two and I joined the Coast Guard. I returned home on leave and we went on our first date. Fast forward through 4 years of on and off dating when we could make it work, we both were out of the military and decided to give it a real shot. Wes will tell you I tricked him into being in a relationship, but he didn't run off, so clearly he wasn't too upset.

We went camping when we finally had some time off from school. Because we used stones from both of our grandmothers, I knew what the ring was going to look like, but I wasn't allowed to see the final product. When we were camping our song came on and as we danced I thought "this is it". Spoiler alert, it wasn't it. A couple of hours later Wes went to watch the sunset and I begrudgingly went along with him. I walked ahead of Wes and when I turned around and he had the box open. He got on one knee and I screamed "yes". We can't wait to celebrate our love with our family and friends!
