Things To DoThings To Do

Austin is our favorite city! We know we were born and raised here, so it could make us biased, but we've done our fair share of traveling and we've both lived in 4+ other major cities, and let us just tell you...nothing compares to Austin. It really is worth the hype. So, we're so excited to share a few of our favorite places, in our favorite city, with our favorite people! However, even if you don't make it to any of these places and choose to forge your own path, we are confident that no matter what you do or which restaurant you pick, you'll enjoy every second of it! Some things to keep in mind while planning your trip to Austin: 1. There is a lot of traffic and it can take a while to go a short distance. 2. Most all restaurants will have a wait. Reservations will be helpful!

Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike TrailAnn and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail

This is a 10-mile hike and bike trail that loops around Lake Bird Lake, right in the heart of downtown Austin. It's perfect for your daily exercise or a social morning walk with coffee and friends. It's also a great way of to see just how perfectly Austin combines city living and green space!

Zilker ParkZilker Park

Austin, TX 78746

One of our favorite outdoor places. Bring a blanket, snacks, and lawn games to spend some time outside soaking up the sun.

Congress Bridge BatsCongress Bridge Bats

Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Yep, it's a thing! Austin is home to the world's largest urban bat colony. Every night about 1.5 million bats take to the sky! It's a beautiful site and only a 15 minutes walk from our venue. The bats migrate to warmer weather for the winter around late October/early November, so if we're lucky, they'll still be there during our wedding weekend!

Austin Public LibraryAustin Public Library

710 W Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701

Okay, so hear me out. If you're a booklover like us, it is an absolute must! The library is a stunning six-story building with a rooftop garden that overlooks Lady Bird Lake and the Austin skyline. It's a great place to work (if you're working remote), study, or lounge with a coffee and a good book! We highly recommend!

Night OutNight Out

Dirty 6th Quintessential Austin night out. This is the place you think of when you think of going out in Austin. However, the crowd is on the younger side. If you're looking for a rager with mechanical bulls and clubs — this is your spot. West 6th This is located on the same street as dirty 6th, but as the name suggests, further west. It's geared more toward the 20/30 somethings. No clubs up this way, but lots of bars with all sorts of games to choose from. East 6th Also located on 6th street but toward the east side, past I-35. This is the newest section of 6th street and again is for the 20/30 somethings. It has more of a hipster air to it. Rainey Street Not as big as 6th street, but just as fun. This area is lined with themed-bars, food trucks, and live music. BONUS: perfect for bar hopping during brunch or late night!

Live MusicLive Music

Austin is known as the "Live Music Capital of the World" and for good reason! You can hear live music literally at any hour of the day and pretty much anywhere. Whether it's a concert or local show at a bar/restaurant — we guarantee it will be available during our wedding weekend. If that's your thing, a quick Google Search will bring up all your options!

Esther's FolliesEsther's Follies

525 E 6th St., Austin, TX 78701

Austin's #1 comedy troupe. Political satire, sketch comedy, and magic all wrapped into one place! It's hilarious and an absolute blast! Tickets are required.

Bouldin AcresBouldin Acres

2027 S. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78704

We went here on our first date! Liam also planned a surprise engagement party here for Mikaela with our family and friends. Needless to say, it has a special place in our hearts! It's a sports bar, with drinks, food, TVs, outdoors space, and pickleball!

Peter Pan Mini-GolfPeter Pan Mini-Golf

1207 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78704

We have spent many a weekend in childhood and as adults playing mini-golf here. It was even one of our last dates before we got engaged! It's a staple from "old" Austin and has been here since 1947. The original courses and hand-painted figures have withstood the test of time, and for good reason. It's BYOB, so grab some friends and some drinks and enjoy a classic Austin experience!

Amy's Ice CreamAmy's Ice Cream

This is our absolute favorite ice cream. We've been to countless states and cities and tried ice cream in all and have yet to find something that beats Amy's. There are locations all over the city, including one about a 5 minutes walk from the venue — you should definitely check it out. You won't regret it!
