We met in college at Iowa State University when a mutual friend in Grant’s fraternity gave him Mikaela’s number, convinced we’d be a great match. A few dates later, it was clear he was right — we hit it off immediately. After graduation, life took us to different towns: Grant accepted his first job in Osage, Iowa, while Mikaela stayed close to home in Ankeny to be near her family. What followed were a couple of years filled with long drives, weekend visits, and learning that love is absolutely worth the miles. Eventually, Grant made the move to Ankeny — to be closer to Hazel (our golden retriever and entire world)… and Mikaela too ;) Grant popped the question on July 19, 2025, after planning the perfect day together, including a stop at Café B in Ames, the spot of our very first date. Later that evening, Mikaela walked into our new home filled with rose petals and a simple question: Will you marry me? We ended the night celebrating at Talons of Tuscany with our closest friends and family — exactly how we dreamed it would be 🤍
