Miguel and I originally met back in 2018 during college. He was an RA (resident assistant) for his dorm and I was in my senior year of undergrad. We happened to run into each other one night when I was studying for a big project and he was making his nightly rounds, and thats the night we fell in love! (Just kidding haha). I specifically remember this night because Miguel sat down in a chair across the room and began telling me the story of how God miraculously brought him to Cairn. We chatted for an hour or so and afterwards, I remember thinking about a movie I had recently watched called "The Timer" in which people get mysterious timers implanted into their wrists that count down to the moment they meet their soulmate. I wondered to myself, in a facetious type of way, whether or not I had just met my soulmate. However, as someone who is highly introverted and generally pretty reserved, I could not have imagined myself with somebody as outgoing and expressive as Miguel haha. Miguel and I remained acquaintances after this interaction as we would regularly see each other around campus. Fast forward to the very beginning of 2022, Miguel and I reconnected over social media with our first conversation, strangely enough, being about sea urchins in the Mediterranean. Miguel messaged me quite a few times over the course of a couple weeks, and by God's grace (and Miguel's patience with my busy schedule and lack of responding haha), we soon after started dating. One of our most meaningful dates, in my opinion, was to the Cheesecake Factory at the Christiana Mall. I was in Delaware for the weekend and we spontaneously decided to meet each other half way to see a movie and go out for dinner. We talked that day about what we both were looking for in a life partner, where we felt God was leading us, and what both of our "ideal timelines" were. Thinking back on this day, it is both entertaining and humbling to see the way God has crafted our story and led us to where we are. If you would have asked either of us that day if we thought we would be planning a wedding for the spring, we would have thought you were crazy. On August 28th, 2022 at the park where we went on one of our very first dates, Miguel asked me to marry him. His proposal was creative and sweet, and was so perfectly and intentionally planned. I was very surprised and could not have chosen a more beautiful day to say "YES" to marrying Miguel. We are both so excited for this next chapter and are looking forward to celebrating with all of our friends and loved ones!

Miguel y yo nos conocimos originalmente en el 2018 en la universidad. Él era un RA (asistente de residencia) para su dormitorio y yo estaba en el último año de mi licenciatura. Nos encontramos una noche cuando yo estaba estudiando para un gran proyecto y él estaba haciendo sus rondas nocturnas, ¡Y esa fue la noche en que nos enamoramos! (Es broma jaja). Recuerdo específicamente esta noche porque Miguel se sentó en una silla al otro lado de la habitación y comenzó a contarme la historia de cómo Dios lo llevó milagrosamente a Cairn. Charlamos durante una hora más o menos y después, recuerdo haber pensado en una película que había visto recientemente llamada "The Timer" en esta película a las personas les implantaban misteriosos cronómetros en sus muñecas que iban en cuenta regresiva hasta el momento en que las personas se encontraban con su alma gemela. Me pregunté a mí misma, de una manera jocosa, si acababa de conocer a mi alma gemela o no. Sin embargo, como alguien que es muy introvertida y generalmente bastante reservada, no podría haberme imaginado con alguien tan extrovertido y expresivo como Miguel jaja. Después de este día, Miguel y yo seguimos encontrándonos regularmente en el campus y simplemente nos tratábamos como conocidos. Adelantando el tiempo un poco más hasta principios de 2022, Miguel y yo nos volvimos a conectar a través de las redes sociales y tuvimos nuestra primera conversación, curiosamente, sobre los erizos de mar en el Mediterráneo. Después de esta conversación, y durante un par de semanas, Miguel continúo enviándome mensajes, y por la gracia de Dios (y la paciencia de Miguel con mi apretada agenda y la falta de respuesta jaja), poco después comenzamos a salir. Una de nuestras citas más significativas, en mi opinión, fue en Cheesecake Factory en Christiana Mall. Estuve en Delaware el fin de semana y espontáneamente decidimos encontrarnos a mitad de camino para ver una película y salir a cenar. Hablamos ese día sobre lo que ambos buscábamos en un compañero de vida, hacia dónde sentíamos que Dios nos estaba guiando y cuáles eran nuestros "tiempos ideales". Pensando en este día, es entretenido y alentador ver la forma en que Dios ha elaborado nuestra historia y nos ha llevado a donde estamos. Si nos hubieras preguntado a cualquiera de nosotros dos ese día, si pensábamos que estaríamos planeando una boda para la primavera, habríamos pensado que estabas loco. El 28 de agosto de 2022 en el parque donde tuvimos una de nuestras primeras citas, Miguel me pidió que me casara con él. Su propuesta fue creativa y dulce, y fue detalladamente planeada y tan perfecta. Me quedé muy sorprendida y no podía haber elegido un día más bonito para decir "SÍ" a la propuesta de matrimonio de Miguel. ¡Ambos estamos muy emocionados por este próximo capítulo y esperamos celebrarlo con todos nuestros amigos y seres queridos!
