We first met in high school and quickly caught each other exchanging glances. That later turned into spending time together due to mutual friends. It wasn't until Junior year that we really started to talk and quickly became best friends. As we graduated from high school, we also decided to take our friendship to the next step and began dating. Fate decided that we go to the same University and continued to make memories and spend time together. We were able to Study Abroad together, make mutual friends, and try a lot of delicious restaurants in Houston as our favorite stress relievers. Most important of all, we were able to motivate each other and Graduate!
Once we officially became adults, i.e. we got full-time jobs, the idea of getting married became realistic. After a lot of planning and organizing, we went on a trip to Paris. You might be thinking it's cliche, but it felt like the right place and once we arrived it was even clearer that I made the right choice. Although I knew she could tell something was up, I planned a busy schedule and left no gaps so there was no room for guessing. The day of the proposal was the longest night of my life. I couldn't contain my excitement and nerves. I think I slept a total of 30 minutes despite being exhausted. It was an early and cold morning as the plan was to catch the sunrise from the Trocadero. I poorly hid the ring box in my pocket, but luckily since it was cold, I could put my hands in my pockets and disguise it a bit better. Once we arrived at the Trocadero, I made eye contact with the photographer who was waiting for our arrival. I nervously led us to the spot the photographer indicated the night before and began to recite the lines I had practiced hundreds of times. This is when Rubi decided to stop me because she noticed the photographer was taking pictures and thought we were blocking her view of the Eiffel Tower. I was trying so hard not to laugh and to stay composed that I forgot my lines so I decided to make it brief and say, "Don't worry about her. She is here for us because I want her to capture the moment I ask you to marry me. So will you marry me?" That brings us to today. We can't wait to celebrate with you at our wedding in January of 2024!
