Our story is nothing short of a miracle. We met in the Summer of 2018 when Miguel was working at Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City. I was thrilled about the cute foreign man I had met but Miguel's mind was far from romantic. We messaged from time to time but nothing too serious. It mostly consisted of me flirting and Miguel calling me his "little sister." It wasn't until November of 2020 that Miguel shared his romantic interest. We began talking much more frequently and were excited to Facetime often. We quickly realized that the distance between us was not shrinking, and my college career would keep us apart for many years. We decided to go our separate ways. For about a year, we were just friends trying to ignore the feelings we knew we had for each other. After my first year of college, my roommate and I wanted to go on a trip together. We had desires of traveling internationally but didn't know where we could go. I mentioned to her that I had a friend who lived in the Dominican Republic. I called up Miguel to propose our travels and he, without hesitation, offered for us to stay with him and his family in their home. In May of 2022, my roommate and I traveled to Santo Domingo. Miguel took a week off from his job to show us around and make sure we were safe. We had such a sweet time and were fighting trying to deny our obvious feelings for one another. Shortly after my roommate and I arrived back home Miguel invited me to join his church on a young adults' retreat the following month. So, in July of 2022 I returned to the Dominican Republic and spent the weekend with his church friends. After the retreat we had two days left before by flight home. With our time we decided to go on our first date together. Miguel took me to dinner at a little restaurant called Sushi Bites and then dancing at an outdoor concert. The following day we went to the beach with one another and had a very sweet goodbye. I returned home and we began discussing how we could make a long-distance relationship work. We were not confident that we would be successful in our attempt but prayed for the Lord's guidance in opening a door for our love, and that's exactly what he did. Miguel talked to some of his friends, and we learned more about another opportunity for Miguel to come and work for Silver Dollar City for 9 months. Miguel applied for the program in January and on March 31 of 2023 he arrived in Springfield where he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. We spent the remainder of 2023 together in Branson dating where Miguel worked back at Silver Dollar City, and I was continued in my college studies. It was inevitable to fall in love with Miguel Segura. On November 5, 2023, Miguel asked me to be his wife. It was a very sweet day, and I was genuinely so surprised! Miguel and I enjoyed our last couple of months together being engaged before he had to return home to the Dominicn Republic on January 1, 2024. We had a very sad goodbye, and I had no idea when I was going to see him again. For those who are unaware, immigration is very difficult and people who live in the Dominican Republic (and many other countries) don't have the freedom to travel as they would please. Miguel wasn't allowed to just come the States and marry me, he had to have a specific visa that would allow him to do so. We both took upon our duties to pray that the Lord would show us his plan for us to be married. I went to visit Miguel for my Spring break in March which made our time apart slightly more barrable. Miguel applied to attend College of the Ozarks, where I too attend, and he was able to return to the States in May of 2024 to be a full time Student. I have loved getting to be a college student with him and enjoy campus life together before we enter this wonderful season of marriage and am so thankful we never have to say goodbye again. There is no denying that our love is by the hand of the Lord, and not at all by our own doing.
