The first time we met, I was nonexistent to Daniela. From laying my eyes on her at the Kingdom Hall, to having the same friend connections, I didn't really hit her radar. Because we had similar friend groups, it was easy for us to get together to hang out and talk. However, we were just friends and didn't think anything of it...at least to her. Eventually, our relationship grew closer throughout the pandemic when shelter in place was rampant. The most notable connection we had was our weird personalities and struggles. I always admired her ability to stay positive despite how difficult things were, and how that ability creates a huge circle of friends that strengthens into family. I had no idea what she saw in me when we were talking, but it started to click. From being nonexistent to the most noteworthy person in Daniela's eyes, she actually took the initiative to tell me that she liked me. Initially, I wanted to ask her out first, but that would sound like an excuse on my end. On June 26th, 2021, we agreed to move forward with our relationship and on June 26th, 2022 at Governors Island, I popped the question to which she said a resounding YES.
From Miguel's perspective of things, I had a different line of thinking. Because of shelter in place, we always had opportunities to text each other throughout the day. We were texting, in the middle of the night, about relationships and goals. I vaguely asked him if he would give it a chance. So he says, "Give what a chance?" although he probably knew where this was going. I said "Give us a chance," to which he said "Oh, so you do like me". After we established that we liked each other, we decided to give it a chance. The funny thing about this interaction was that he didn't ask me to he his girlfriend. I asked, "what happens now?" and he just told me, "Okay, you're my girlfriend now." He never asked me to be his girlfriend, he told me I was his girlfriend. I'm glad he didn't do the same with the engagement because nobody just tells someone you're their fiancée, waiting to get married. He popped the question to me on June 26th, 2022 and I said yes. So here we are planning our wedding, a year later, and I'm still waiting to be asked to be his girlfriend.
