We're jumping the broom!

The day was September, 28 2013. I'd just recently self-published my fictional novel and decided to celebrate with a book release party. I needed to sell tickets and fast! I would only see and greet Shavon (who was my neighbor at the time) in passing. Whenever I'd see him, he was either on his way out or with a group of friends. "He's cute,” I thought to myself, "I should invite him to my party. I'll ask him the next time I see him." That night finally came. I was heading into the house from work and there he was, talking to a group of friends, of course. Honestly, I was annoyed because I wanted to catch him alone. I figured it was either now or never. I nervously approached him and his friends. I briefly introduced myself and my book, then I invited him and his friends to the book release party. As I spoke, I glanced over and I noticed Shavon giving me this keen look of "interest". That totally caught me off guard. I handed them a flyer and made my way inside. A little later that evening, I received a phone call. He asked if I was free to talk outside. I snatched my scarf from my head and quickly combed down my hair. I met Shavon at the front entrance of our apartment building. To this day, 3951 is still a special number to us. That chat was the first of many conversations to come...
