Like so many modern love stories, Jeff and Michelle’s began on a dating app, but it didn’t start out as love at first swipe. Michelle knew exactly what she was looking for. Her profile was thoughtfully crafted and full of intention. Jeff, on the other hand, had taken a much more laid-back approach. He hadn’t filled out his profile at all. But that didn’t stop him from sliding into her DMs, sending Michelle a message, casually suggesting they grab coffee. "That should do the trick," he thought. Michelle took one look at his empty profile and thought, "Excuse me, sir, you’ve given me nothing to work with here." So, in true Michelle fashion, she hit him back with, "You'd like to have coffee based on what? Your profile doesn’t give me any indication that we have anything in common. Tell me a lot more about yourself." She assumed Jeff was hoping to nab the low hanging fruit, and this is where he would ghost and move on to the next. She was wrong. Jeff surprised her...he listened. Instead of ghosting or throwing out some generic defensive response, he went back and filled out his profile. And not just with the bare minimum. It was so thoughtful, insightful, and exactly the kind of answer Michelle had been hoping for. Jeff was handsome, witty, charming, and intelligent in a way that made her smile at her phone. He had personality and depth. He didn’t just answer the prompts, he brought his A-game. And suddenly, Michelle wasn’t just curious… She was intrigued and interested. But here’s the thing–neither of them was the type to just rush into meeting a total stranger from the internet. They were both careful, a little skeptical, and, if they were being honest...nervous. So instead of jumping straight to a first date, they talked. And talked. And talked. Every night, for two weeks straight, they spent hours on the phone—laughing, learning about each other and asking each other every question under the sun. By the time they finally agreed to meet in person, they had already built trust and something very real. And when they did finally meet—at Union Station’s Terminal Bar—it was instant. The chemistry, the familiarity, the trust, the feeling that this was something special. What was supposed to be a quick drink turned into a visit to Tattered Cover Bookstore, which turned into a long walk around downtown, which then turned into a very special dinner at Cholon. The date just kept going, and neither of them wanted it to end. And, spoiler alert—it never really did. ❤️ Photo below is from our first date.
