The Early Years

At the ripe old age of 16, Kevin asked Erin to homecoming at Wheaton North by modifying the Guess Who game, sneakily adding his face in with other men of our class of 2009. As she had other offers for that dance, it was surprising for even herself when she decided she wanted to go with the calm and collected Kevin, a mere acquaintance. The dance turned out to be one of the more genteel moments she had with a guy and the dinner and dancing were full of laughter and silliness. But alas, their time had not yet come because life moves on and so did she, never even knowing that Kevin had a crush. Kevin went through college and Erin Motherhood, neither knowing they'd see one another again. But meet they did, when Erin and her sons Asher then 3 and Ean 18 months, made the great trek North to move into her parent's house and restart her life. Though the circumstances that brought them in proximity were tragic at best and deplorable at worst, God had a light at the end of the tunnel coming for both of them.

The Love Story

Kevin and Erin slowly warmed up to each other after many church events brought them together until the moment Erin popped the question: "what are your intentions with me, Kevin?" You see, she had seen this godly, daring man move out of his way to intersect her life and the lives of her sons and this perplexed and mildly annoyed her. Well, long story short, that annoyance turned to admiration to deep regard to camaraderie to longing until finally, after receiving her heart back through the healing process she'd underwent; she gave her heart to the only man who would ever deserve it. And he was undone. The thought that this breathtaking, intelligent, passionate woman of the Lord wanted to pair her life with him was an answered prayer, not only to be a husband but to be a father, something that he'd desired from an early age. And though life can be topsy-turvy, the knowledge of what they had already faced and overcame, fuels their vision for what they can become with Christ as their Lord and Creator of their perfectly planned love story.

The Engagement

May 25th 2019

The proposal was nothing short of the atypical romance that had become the standard for Kevin and Erins mindful dating. It should be noted that the couple began a courtship with the accountability and approval of their family and mentors in the faith. And in line with that support, Kevin met with Erin’s parents and asked permission to marry their daughter and father their grandchildren. But alas, between Erin’s acute intuition and Kevin’s honest nature, the proposal was not a surprise. Regardless, it was intimate and endearing. At the Morten Arboretum with friends, Erin caught on to the fact that it was “the day” when the expensive camera came out and Kevin was adamant about location. This was ok though because Erin doesn’t particularly like ambushes, although she does like creating them. So without further ado, she decided to partake in the event by choosing the location she preferred instead. Rather than the child-ridden open space of Kevin’s choice she encouraged further walking and when they stopped to rest she looked over and there in the sunlight was a massive overhanging tree. Without conveying anything she moved herself out of the awkwardness and under the billowing leafy branches. There she decided to stay put, sitting in the green sanctuary awaiting her Prince. Kevin noticed her absence and upon seeing her veiled in the amiable branches he approached and sat by her side. Away from their comrades, and the pressure, they had a sweet talk and then Kevin playfully spoke “are you ready for this?” She gleefully expressed her yes as he pulled out the ring and presented it to his would-be bride. She was delighted at the beauty of her Nana’s diamond in a handpicked ring. And although she didn’t know what the future held, she definitely knew they’d live now and eternally for Christ and one another. And through Him, have a fantabulous life worth living.
