As most couples nowadays meet, we met on a dating app. I was rapidly swiping left when I came across Michelle’s (Shelly’s) picture. Her smile had me immediately, so I swiped right. I messaged her right away and before you know it we were texting and talking (yes, like real talking on the phone) for hours. A couple days in I asked her “if I was to hug you what would you smell like?” And in true Shelly fashion she answered “your future”. That was it, that was the line, I was hooked.

We planned on going to the apple orchard with Shelly’s family as soon as we got home from vacation. We were getting ready Sunday morning when Shelly takes out a pair of Nike sneakers she’s going to wear. Now I’ve been wanting this pair of Nike’s and had mentioned it several times. I asked her when she got them and told her they looked great on her. Fast forward to Beak and Skiff in the apple orchard walking down a path with her family when I see a pair of Nike’s matching the ones Shelly’s wearing on a blanket with some balloons and an apple. Immediately I thought “awww, how sweet, she got me the same sneakers as her”. Yes, I’m crying. I walk up to them and as I’m crying and saying how cute everything is Shelly asked me if I read what was on them. I look closer, and on the back of one shoe it says “marry” and the other shoe says “me”! I cry more turn around and Shelly’s on one knee asking me to be her wife! I ugly cried and then ugly cried even more when I realized our friends were hiding behind the trees! And to top it off, we walk into the barn to grab a drink and to my surprise even more friends and family were waiting for us! What a perfect day!
