In 2011, Michelle and Teresa were both convinced and coerced to attend a volunteer work weekend at Camp Osito Rancho; the Girl Scout Resident camp in Big Bear, Ca. Teresa was “volentold” by her boss that as staff for the upcoming camp season, she was expected to be there. Michelle was dragged out of bed by her friend, Kara, and told that they were doing something good for the community. Neither Teresa nor Michelle were looking for anything other than that weekend being over when they arrived, but sometime during the first day of pitching heavy canvas tents, raking pinecones, or organizing art supplies, M & T started talking to each other, then eating meals together, then spending all their time during that weekend together. By the end of the weekend together, Teresa was trying to convince Michelle to apply to work as Camp staff for the summer. She agreed- but was more interested in working with Teresa than she was working with all the kids coming up to camp for the summer. Teresa and Michelle spent the summer sneaking around holding hands in the dark, kissing under the moon, and falling in love in the fresh air.
