Stephen remembers the first time he met Michelle...it was at SDSU in the Army ROTC office during their junior year. He was quietly finishing up some paperwork when she barged in, lighting up the whole room with her strong personality and bright smile. They had few chance interactions between then and senior year when they were ultimately assigned to worked together as the ROTC Battalion Commander (Stephen) and Battalion Executive Officer (Michelle). Stephen and Michelle had a professional relationship grounded in trust and friendship. They would be friends for 5 years before they got together as a couple. Michelle was living in San Diego, working at General Atomics while in the California Army National Guard, part-time. Stephen was active-duty, stationed in Fort Irwin, CA. Throughout the years after college, Stephen and Michelle would periodically meet up for hamburgers and beer, just to catch up. Between different Army schools and duty-stations, they were not always in the same place, but they always found some time to see each other. It wasn't until March 2019 that the timing was right for the both of them to be together. To them, they believe that God has a reason for everything--they built up a devoted, trusting friendship that led to true love. Since then, Stephen left the Army and moved in with Michelle in 2020--an unprecedented year, but was a blessing in disguise. They got to make up years of being apart by being quarantined together for months. On January 3, 2021, Stephen sealed their fate by proposing to Michelle at Balboa Park in San Diego. They're excited to share their lives together and hope you can join them on their big day!
