We both were studying at the Schulich School of Business.
We first crossed paths as frosh leaders during our second year, and ended up in the same marketing class. What started as working together in a group project turned into becoming close friends for several years. It was during in our final year at school that Shad asked Michelle out.
We discovered our love for travelling while on exchange.
We both had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in an exchange program during our final year of university. While Michelle was living in France and Shad was living in Germany, we continually met up and travelled to 14 countries together. Since then, we’ve kept the adventure going and travelled to over 30 countries together...and counting! ✈️🌍
Japan!
We had the best time there enjoying all of the delicious food, beautiful culture, the fandom - even their clean bathrooms!
We are very proud to embrace both our cultures.
Over the years, we’ve had so much fun learning about and celebrating each other’s cultures and traditions - such as celebrating Eid and Tết (Vietnamese New Year) together. Bringing together our Vietnamese and Bengali backgrounds has made our journey even more meaningful, and we’re excited to carry those traditions into the life we build together. We hope to one day share the best of both worlds with our future family and create some new traditions of our own along the way.
We're so lucky to have experience a lot together!
We've been skydiving, cliff jumping, sky diving, zip lining, paragliding, hang gliding, hiking, we've rode a hot air balloon, on camel back, ATVs, motorcycles...so it's hard to choose! But one of our favourite experiences was hiking up Mount Sinai at sunrise. We began at 1 a.m., climbing in complete darkness through freezing air, and spent 3 steep hours making our way to the summit. When the sun started to rise, it made every aching step worth it. The feeling was overwhelming - a mix of feeling emotional, grateful, and so happy after such a demanding journey. Watching people gather in a sacred space was incredibly moving. We had so much gratitude for the chance to witness something so beautiful.
It happened in the beautiful Cappadocia, Türkiye.
Shad convinced Michelle to do a very early sunrise photoshoot while overseeing the hot air balloons that fly in the morning. Since Shad is into photography, he had been talking for a while about how he wanted to get some professional photos taken, so Michelle didn’t think anything of it. At the top of Love Valley, surrounded by breathtaking views and a sky full of hot air balloons, Shad got down on one knee and asked Michelle to marry him. It was a beautiful, unforgettable moment, and the perfect way to capture our love for adventure together. Since we had woken up ridiculously early for the sunrise, we celebrated afterward with a BIG nap, then spent the rest of the day calling our family and friends to share the big news.
