As soon as our parents were fully vaccinated we started to dream about a wedding! In February it didn't seem possible to bring all of our nearest & dearest together in one location. So we pivoted to a two party model! Who doesn't love two times the fun! In a small gathering, we are tying the knot on June 26, 2021 (a special date in both of our families). However, our wedding events wouldn't be complete with you. We look forward to sharing our vows and toasting with you on Saturday August 7th!
After trying their hands at online dating, a dear friend intervened and encouraged these two to meet. Michelle didn't dare hope this date would be any different. Jamie was nervous...which was made worse when Michelle waited 6 hours to respond to his initial text message. After a long texting exchange, Michelle & Jamie agreed to meet. A plan for a quick chat over a cocktail became a 3 hour date that closed the bar. Turns out, meeting Jamie was different after all... On her way home, Michelle told a friend that this guy might just be the one. Curious about who did the match-making? The couple's officiant, that's who! You'll get to meet him on the big day!
Jamie and Michelle had been talking about getting engaged/married during the first six months of the pandemic. Jamie had encouraged Michelle to find the ring style she liked the most. He'd even suggested they go ring shopping together. They had a vacation planned to Lake Almanor, California and had agreed they would go when they got back. On Labor Day 2020, the happy couple arrived at the Lake, enjoyed a beautiful dinner, and planned to take a boat ride at sunset. Michelle was anxiously waiting to board the boat, but Jamie needed her attention for just one minute. When she turned around, Jamie was on one knee and asked her the big question.
Turns out, Jamie didn't need Michelle to pick a ring when he proposed. When Jamie dropped to one knee, he already had one... his great grandmother's wedding ring. Great Grandmother Amelia Wilburn Miller was married in the early 1900's in Savannah, Georgia. Jamie's mother Myrtle had worn her ring for years. It's antique style caught Michelle's attention. She mentioned to Jamie & Myrtle how much she loved it. Jamie went to great lengths to assure Michelle that the antique family heirloom wasn't an engagement ring option. While Michelle was online shopping and sending endless pictures to friends via text, Jamie was secretly having the ring sized & restored for the big day!
