Michelle's POV So I was looking for a new job and I ended up getting an interview for Dairy Queen. I showed up and waited to tell the guy at the front counter that I was there for an interview. I thought he was cute so I was excited with the idea of working with him. The interview went well, and I got the job. On my first day, I was sitting on the floor in front of the door waiting for the person who was supposed to train me, to let me in. Carter was the one who was supposed to train me because I was supposed to replace him since he was leaving DQ. We got along really well, he was super easy to talk to. I texted him about a work problem through GroupMe and he responded with his snap and said to add him since he didn't like messaging on GroupMe. (smooth ik) Eventually, he asked me to go the gym with him after work, by the time we met up at the gym it was 12 am (scandalous) we had so much fun and after we worked out we talked in the bed of his truck until 4 am. I hadn't realized that he had his arm around me while we were sitting down (man's got moves). When I went home I was confused, trying to figure out if he liked me or not. The next night I asked him to go to the gym again. This time one of his friends came up and Carter introduced me as "his friend." After we were done we walked over to his truck and we had somehow brought up our dating history, I mentioned that I hadn't gone on a date in 2 years. He kind of gave me a look, pointed at the building and said "What do you think this was." I was surprised and asked if he considered this a date, and he said yes. I then told him that it didn't count and he would have to take me on an actual date. A year later we're engaged. Carter's POV I was working as an assistant manager at Dairy Queen at the time, and Jack, the other assistant manager, and I were just going through the usual grind. The GM was conducting interviews for the new opening position, and Michelle walked in. I remember telling Jack that I thought she was cute, but I wasn’t expecting much. She was just one of many interviewees that day, and I figured it was probably just another hire. But then, out of nowhere, I found out later that she actually got the job. I was tasked with training her on her first day, and that’s when I realized we had a solid connection. At first, it was just work-related stuff, but it was clear we got along well. I didn’t think much of it at the time—just a new trainee—but after a few days, we started chatting more, and I found myself looking forward to spending time with her, both on and off the clock. The vibe between us was easy and fun, which made training her feel natural. What I didn’t know at that point was that I’d end up spending way more time with her than I ever expected—and that those late-night conversations would turn into something I never could’ve predicted. One weekend, Jack was out of town, and Jack and I had a tradition of going to the gym after work. I thought it would be a good opportunity to ask Michelle to go to the gym with me instead. This time, it wasn’t just about the workout; it was a chance to get to know her better, outside of work. I didn’t want it to feel forced or weird, so I kept it casual. The workout went by quickly, and we ended up talking until about 4 a.m. The whole night felt so easy and natural. The night left me wondering if she felt the same way, though I wasn’t sure what to make of it just yet. I figured I’d ask her on a date the following week because I couldn’t help but look forward to seeing her again. And from there, things led to where they are now.
