It all started at Barrington High School in Freshman year biology! We sat near each other and quickly developed a flirty friendship, but Brian was hard to read and I never knew whether or not he wanted anything more. I ended up asking him to the Turnabout dance to try and feel things out and although we had a great time together, I came home from the dance even more confused! Fast forward a year later and turnabout was approaching again. I couldn’t possibly ask him 2 years in a row, so I decided to take another guy friend of mine thinking he wouldn’t even notice, but to my surprise my strategy worked! For a few weeks after the dance, he was acting off and more distant towards me at school, so I was shocked when he decided to invite me to his state hockey game and gave me his jersey to wear to school, which everyone noticed... after they luckily won the game, I vividly remember him running up to hug me and introducing me to two of his siblings, Morgan and Colin. He texted me afterwards saying how happy he was to see me in the stands and that I was there to cheer him on. That’s when it clicked that I wasn’t imagining things.. only 3 short weeks later and days before my sweet 16, Brian finally worked up the courage to ask me out on our first “date” to cold stone at Deer Park mall and it was there that he invited me to my first Blackhawks game to celebrate - and the rest is history! The proposal: Brian surprised me on my birthday last year with a trip to Greece in September! I couldn’t believe it and was SO excited, praying that covid wouldn’t cause any issues with our travel. Luckily, we made it to paradise and exactly halfway through our trip before dinner in Santorini, Brian got down on one knee on the edge of a cliff, popped the question and I said YES! He hired a photographer who gave us our own private photo shoot and the night couldn’t have been more perfect. Almost 13 years later, it’s official and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate in our happy place! 🤍
