On a cold winter day in Cleveland, Ohio, Michelle decided to open her Bumble app and stumbled across her boxing trainer! Fearing an awkward encounter with him later on, she immediately closed the app and vowed not to 'swipe right.' Several drinks later with inhibitions lowered, she opened her app again, swiped right, and voila! It was a match! However, Michelle had just accepted a new job in Chicago and was planning to move in the next 2 months - starting a new relationship was not what she thought was in the cards. She let the match expire, and went without messaging him (when using Bumble, the girl is required to send the first message). During the next week, Michelle and Ben ran into each other a few times at the gym, however avoided any acknowledgement of the match. Fast forward to the next weekend, where after some additional awkward encounters, Michelle decided to go out to grab a drink with her friend Leah. While at the bar, she felt a tap on her shoulder, turned around, and saw it was Ben! They immediately started chatting. Ben brought his friend Max over to Michelle and Leah's table and they instantly clicked. And the rest is history :)
Because Ben and Michelle met through Title Boxing Club, Ben thought it was only fitting that the engagement was at the same place. On Saturday February 20th, Ben was teaching a boxing class that Michelle thought was to celebrate Ben’s birthday that had been the day before. With their friend Chris DJing and many of their close friends in class, the “birthday celebration” began. Little did Michelle know, this was going to be much more than just a birthday class, but a day to change the rest of her life. The morning started like any other. Ben and Michelle got ready, had their morning coffee and some Emergency-C (which was needed after one too many cocktails for Ben’s birthday dinner the night before). Ben then went to the gym early to help Chris set up and to prepare for the biggest question of their lives. Ben kicked off the class at 10:15am and was teaching just like any other day, but due to the anticipation, each 3 minute boxing round seemed to last an eternity. Eventually, he made it through the 8 boxing rounds and all the way to the final minute where Chris had the perfect proposal music cued up (Marry Me by Bruno Mars). Ben started by thanking Chris and Title Boxing Club, and then made his way over to Michelle. At this point for Michelle, it started to hit her as to what was happening and how much this class would be the class she would never forget. Ben finally got down on one knee and asked her to marry him in front of the entire class. The initial shock factor had Michelle at a loss for words, but after a long 5 seconds, she said “Yes!” Ben had organized a brunch for all of their friends in Chicago, so the rest of the day was spent celebrating!
