Andrew and Michelle’s story started on Long Island. Andrew was working at Equinox and Michelle was just across the street at News 12. They were on completely different schedules—Andrew was at the gym in the mornings and Michelle usually went at night. Despite never crossing paths at the gym, social media did its thing, linking them up through mutual friends and setting the stage for what was to come. At one point, Andrew reached out to Michelle after seeing her post about a puppy yoga fundraiser. That caught his attention and he connected with her about trying to organize one for a brand he was working with. What started as conversations about dogs and the gym turned into additional shared interests like their love of the outdoors and house music. Fast forward to the winter—Andrew asked Michelle to go snowboarding, but with her overly planned out schedule, she told him she was busy every weekend for the next three months. When those three months were up, Andrew tried again, suggesting a hike instead. What was supposed to be a quick hike at Harriman State Park turned into six hours on the trails. They got so caught up in conversation, realizing how much they had in common, that they didn’t even notice how quickly the time passed. The adventures continued from there, marking the beginning of their love story.
Andrew had been secretly planning the proposal for months as soon as they booked a trip to Utah. Knowing it had to happen at a place that meant so much to him—Snowbird, he envisioned a picture perfect sunrise proposal at the top of the mountain. However, he wasn’t exactly sure how to convince Michelle to wake up that early (considering she’s definitely not a morning person). That’s when he came up with a plan. He told Michelle they had been invited to watch a friend’s photoshoot for the Snowbird staff and promised they’d get to ride the first tram up the mountain before it opened to the public. In order to make the idea even more tempting, he mentioned the possibility of seeing a ski patrol dog. Promising a moment to watch the sunrise and see dogs, Michelle was all in. The morning of the proposal, they grabbed their double shot of espressos and headed to the tram. When they reached the summit at 11,000 ft. their friend, the photographer, suggested the perfect spot to catch the sunrise as he “prepped for the planned staff shoot.” Now, Michelle and Andrew often chase a good sunrise and sunset on vacation, so Michelle didn’t think anything was unusual. Meanwhile, Andrew was staying cool under the pressure- especially with that ring in his jacket! Michelle and Andrew were staring out at the endless mountain views while the first rays of sunlight began to come up over the horizon. Andrew spoke from the heart, shared how some of his best memories were made there, and how special this moment was. Andrew knew the timing was perfect. He started to reach into his jacket ( that’s when Michelle started to realize what was happening and kept hugging and kissing him with excitement) He got down on one knee, pulled out that shiny ring, and asked Michelle to marry him. She said yes, making it the most unforgettable and magical moment of both their lives. It was quiet, intimate, and probably one of the longest proposals and exactly what Michelle had always hoped for. Michelle then quickly realized there wasn’t a planned photoshoot for the staff, it was for them! Oh, and guess who was also at the summit?! The patrol dog! Once they finished taking in all the excitement, it was time to hit the slopes as a newly engaged couple. They spent the rest of the morning with bluebird skies and had the entire mountain to themselves for first tracks, followed by the evening at the spa. They kept the day chill and just about the two of them until they called their family and friends before going out to dinner to continue the celebration.
