If you would like to visit the Oregon coast, beautiful Cannon Beach is a 1.5 hour drive from downtown Portland via US26.
Mt. Hood National Park is a fantastic place for hiking and other activities. The entrance to the park is only a 30 minute drive from the venue. The Timberline Lodge is a really cool place to check out as well.
Drive this scenic byway to see the beautiful waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge. The Byway is 8 miles long and skirts the base of 5 falls: Latourell, Shepperd’s Dell, Bridal Veil, Wahkeena and of course Multnomah, one of the tallest waterfalls in the nation. Interested in hiking? Take the Horsetail Falls Trailhead just east of Multnomah Falls, for a 4-mile loop that includes an additional 5 waterfalls. Est. time: 3-5hrs
If you are spending time in downtown Portland, don't forget to check out Powell's. Its really one of the best places ever. Its the world's largest independent bookstore, with over one million books. They have both new and used selections, along with their awesome Rare Book Room. They also provide tours.
McMenamins is a uniquely Oregon franchise. Each McMenamins location is different and usually set in historical buildings, combining Oregon's natural beauty with their signature whimsy. They are a brewery and restaurant, but also often a music venue, hotel, and theater. Check out McMenamins Edgefield, the closest one to the venue. They have great food and drink, large gardens, and live entertainment. Get some of their awesome tots while you're there!
Rogue is a quintessential Oregon brewery. If you are in downtown Portland, you won't want to pass this place up. If you're into stouts, try mixing the hazelnut brown nectar with the chocolate stout - it makes a tasty Nutella black and tan.
