How We Met

April, 2017

Like every modern love story starts these days, ours started on Bumble in April of 2017 when we swiped right on each other. After Nick extended his time on Michelle, and Michelle nearly let their time run out again, the conversation started with a GIF of puppies, naturally. Little did we know that that decision would change our lives for the better. About a week of texting later, we were excited to finally meet in person over drinks at Hammer and Sickle - a bar in Uptown, Minneapolis. After a few 2-for-1 Moscow Mules, some awkward first date jokes, a surprising amount of mutual friends (in which we'd questioned if we'd already met), and an admission on Nick's part that he, in fact, did not like Moscow Mules, the rest was history. We went on two more dates quickly thereafter, and fell for each other. P. S - Nick now likes Moscow Mules... :)

The Proposal

February, 2020

Our engagement story has some twists and turns (including an almost foiled plan at airport security), but ended up being so perfect. In February we decided to take a trip to Miami, FL to celebrate Nick's birthday and get away from the Minnesota winter for a bit. It was a rainy first day of our trip, so our plans to go to the beach were ruined. After shopping around that day, we returned home to get ready for dinner. About a half hour later, Nick went out to have a drink on the balcony and asked me to meet him out there when I was done getting ready. Well, most can likely relate to this, but when going out shopping for new clothes and makeup all day, getting ready is not exactly the fastest task :) Nick kept pacing in and out of the room asking when I'd be ready to go. I thought it was a bit weird as we still had two hours before dinner, but I tried to hurry, and about a half hour later (even though Nick will tell you it was longer), I walked out to the balcony. After having a drink, we decided to get an Uber to dinner. I grabbed our jackets from the chair and started walking in when Nick let me know that I'd left something of his on the chair. I noticed a small box sitting there, and was visibly confused, thinking maybe these were some cuff-links he wanted to wear to dinner since he mentioned it was his. Nick took the box from my hand (which I honestly didn't even remember picking up), got down on one knee, told me that he had forgotten everything he was going to say, but that he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I of course said yes, and after the confusion wore off, and a lot of happy tears were shed, we went out to dinner and the rest is history! Fun fact - I later found out a beach proposal the first day of our trip was the actual plan :)

For all the days along the way
