We met while we were both attending Angelo State University. We were both psychology students at the time and had a couple of classes together. However, it wasn't until we were in the last year of our masters program that we began dating.

Christmas day was coming to a close as my family and I headed back to my parents house after spending the day at my Grandma's. My sister and brother-in-law were acting strange and kept trying to get me away from the house. Apparently, I was in a bad mood (probably just ate too much lol) and resistant. I finally went to help my dad at the hunting blind because bad weather was suppose to be rolling in. Once we got back, I noticed a lot of cars at the house and thought nothing of it due to it being Christmas. I couldn't see or hear anyone until I walked around one of the vehicles in the car port. There I saw Cody all dressed up and my sister with her phone out, recording! My heart started pounding as I anticipated what was to come. I finally reach Cody who was in front of my parents outdoor fire place where they had attempted to light a fire to "set the mood", but like every brilliant plan something goes wrong, the fire would not light and Cody seemed frustrated. He finally gave up on the fire and quickly got to the point. He got down on one knee and just like that my head was spinning but I somehow managed to spit out a "yes". The moment was shared with some family and friends watching from inside the house and will be something I remember forever.
