Our Engagement Story 💍 On July 4th, 2025, we were spending the holiday doing what we love most — hanging out at home with good food, great company, and lots of laughter with friends and family. At some point during the day, Mike asked Blake if she wanted to walk to the park to swing and play basketball. We’d been talking about going for weeks, but between bad weather and long workdays, it just hadn’t worked out. Mike dropped his basketball and backpack on a bench while Blake headed to the swings. A few minutes later, he joined her, and we swung side by side for a little while. Then, out of nowhere, Mike jumped off his swing, pulled a ring from his pocket, and got down on one knee. Blake was in total shock. She skidded to a stop (breaking the bottoms of her shoes in the process), and everything after that was kind of a blur. Mike said some sweet things — something about loving her and wanting to be together forever — but Blake was so overwhelmed she couldn’t speak. She just dropped to her knees and held onto him. After a few, emotional moments, Blake finally looked at Mike and asked, “Did I even say yes?” Mike smiled and replied, “Well... you shook your head.” So, she officially said yes — and he helped her up and walked her over to the bench to catch her breath. Blake was crying, laughing, stunned, and completely in love — all at once. Eventually, we walked back home and shared the news with our favorite people. 💙 Blake has always loved the Fourth of July because of her love for fireworks, but now the day has even more meaning — it's the beginning of our forever.
