Balloon Fiesta!
Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta is an amazing event with hundreds of hot air balloons that is scheduled from Oct 2 to Oct 10. We recommend flying into NM early to attend!
Hike to Williams Lake or Mt. Wheeler
4 mile roundtrip hike to a beautiful mountain lake by the ski resort or continue on for a 7 mile roundtrip hike to the top of Mt. Wheeler, NM's tallest mountain (13,161 ft). Trails are very steep but rewarding.
Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa
Consider taking the long way back to Santa Fe or Albuquerque (30 extra minutes) and stop at this lovely mineral springs resort.
La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs
If you have an hour to spare before flying home, the La Cienequilla Petroglyphs are near the Santa Fe airport and just a very short hike away.
Visit Taos Pueblo
Taos Pueblo is a living Native American community just outside of town. Consider visiting Sunday after brunch.
Black Rock Hot Springs
Hike 0.6 miles roundtrip (down and up) into the Taos Gorge and soak in natural hot springs along the Rio Grande.
Visit the Earthship Museum
An Earthship is a type of passive solar house that is made of both natural and upcycled materials such as earth-packed tires. Taos is known for these unique houses, which you can visit or spend a night in.
Rio Grande Gorge Bridge
The bridge is just 8 minutes from the hotel. It has incredible views of the gorge as well as hiking/biking trails along the rim.
Downhill Mountain Biking at Angel Fire Bike Park
Ride a ski lift up and blast down on some super fun terrain. You can rent everything there!
Vivác Winery
Do a local wine tour of some of the driest grapes in the west. :-)
