Who would’ve thought that Ashlee’s third part time job at a restaurant on Skidaway Island would lead her to the love of her life? Michael had been working at the Village for six years and never thought it would be there where he would meet his future wife. It took a few tries, but what stood out to Ashlee was green sharpie; Michael decided to write his number in green sharpie, on the back of receipt paper. Ashlee crumpled it up, but during shifts she’d “accidentally” take it out of her apron and look at it, eventually she decided to throw it away. Subconsciously, she memorized the number. The first text, an invitation to an impromptu bar outing with coworkers. An endearing friendship would blossom, with a little help from a Nat King Cole record, The Wood, and poetry. After graduation, Ashlee moved home to Atlanta. The distance only drew them closer. They would spend the time they had together as if they were never apart; cooking, completing DIY projects, and exploring every Thai restaurant and farmers market in the city. Fast forward to today… Michael and Ashlee are not only soon to be newlyweds, but they are parents to the incredibly smart, hilarious and beautiful Maxine. They are beyond grateful to have crossed paths at that restaurant on Skidaway Island.
