How We Met

2012

This one time at band camp... Just kidding! But actually, we really did meet in high school because of us both being in the band! Since Band was a class we had the same lunch and we had similar friends so we all sat at the same table. Somehow Michael and I sat across from each other and started talking more and more each day. Then Michael asked me on our first date: a game of tennis (how romantic). We went to play tennis, it started storming 5 minutes into our game so we left and went to a local restaurant called JT's Wings. Turns out it was a really bad storm so we got stuck at JT's for about 2 hours. After we finally made it home through the storm I didn't want to say goodbye. I knew that if a date turned out that bad, but I still had a great time, he was a keeper!

How He Asked

Sunrise at Max Patch

Funny story actually... So we had planned to go camping a couple of weeks back, but the weather was not looking good so we canceled. Then on Saturday, we made other plans to just hang around Knoxville for the day. While at lunch Michael checked the weather one more time and it was going to be clear, so we decided to go for it. However, we don't own a tent (hint the registry), nor were we prepared in any way for camping. We decided we would just sleep in my car and "rough it" for the night. And "rough it" we did! First, we get there a little too late for sunset, but I wanted to go up the mountain anyway. We get to the top and, yep, we missed it. On the way down from the mountain, it becomes completely dark... We are using our phones for flashlights and we have honestly no idea where we are going, and then, BAM, I faceplant hard on the trail. We forge on ( me slightly in pain) and finally make it back to the car. We decide that it's time for sleep, only to find out that the car is miserably hot and stuffy. After a longgggg, no-sleep night. We wake up at 5:30am and head up the mountain (taking the easy way). We find a good viewing spot, spread out our blankets, and get ready to watch the sunrise... And at exactly 6:20am, just as the sun is coming up, Michael says "Are you ready?" (lol), then tells me stand up (lol again), then gets down on one knee, pulls out the ring, and asks me to marry him! And through my tears and ugly crying... I say yes!!!

For all the days along the way
