We would appreciate our family and friends dressing up with us on our celebratory day! With that being said, there is a Formal Attire or Cocktail Attire request. Additionally, we ask that our guests refrain from wearing overly distracting colors and patterns (please do not wear the neon Hawaiian shirt you wore to the family cookout), and colors traditionally reserved for the bride (white, cream, ivory). Instead, we would be thrilled to see our family and friends build their looks around neutral colors and earth tones. If you need examples or inspiration, please look at the top of this page!
Formal Attire is a catch-all term that encompasses cocktail and black-tie-optional dress codes. It is a level of dress that's elegant but not over the top! For men, tuxes and bow ties are acceptable, as well as dinner jackets and suits. For women, Formal Attire consists of a range from flowy gowns and floor-length dresses to elegant cocktail dresses or stylish pantsuits. Cocktail Attire aims to strike a balance between formal and casual, as well as elegant and comfortable. For an event with a Cocktail Attire dress code, men typically wear a suit and tie while women wear a cocktail dress, midi dress, maxi dress, pantsuit, or jumpsuit.
We are so excited to celebrate our day with our nearest and dearest! Our wedding is RSVP only, as we do have a strict guest list to stay within the capacity of our venues. We are only able to accommodate those listed on your specific invitation. Please keep in mind that security will only allow inside those who are on the guest list. Thank you for your understanding!
While we love your little ones, our ceremony and reception are going to be adult-only events. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time so that you can enjoy the evening and celebrate with us!
Our wedding ceremony inside the church will be unplugged. For this, we ask all phones and cameras to be put away and turned on silent. Please respect this decision as the purpose is to prevent distractions and allow everyone to be fully present during these precious moments without interruption. You are more than welcome and encouraged to take as many photos and videos throughout the rest of the day, including the 2nd line parade and reception!
We kindly ask that all RSVPs be completed electronically through our wedding website by February 1st, 2024. Our venues and vendors do require final guest counts well in advance of our wedding day, so to secure your spot we kindly ask you to RSVP as soon as possible or latest, by February 1st, 2024. All you need to do to RSVP is click the RSVP tab at the top of this page and you will be directed accordingly! You can also change your status if you RSVP early on and something comes up, so, please RSVP sooner than later for planning purposes! *Note: Failure to RSVP by February 1st will result in a "Not Coming" status on your RSVP. We will miss you celebrating with us, but we must provide a total guest count for our venues in the timely manner they have requested, and cannot accept late RSVPs due to this.
Yes, there will be parking available at both venues. There is no "onsite" parking available at Hotel Peter + Paul unless you have booked to stay there. However, we have reserved free parking at Doerr Furniture, which is a 5 minute walk to Hotel Peter + Paul and includes a lot attendant. The address of Doerr Furniture is 914 Elysian Fields Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117. Additionally, Southern Oaks has a gated private parking lot on-site that will be monitored by security as well. *Note: The parking at Doerr Furniture is reserved for three hours, which is more than enough time for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the second line, before heading to Southern Oaks. If you choose to drive to the ceremony, you need to make sure you don't leave your car there after the allotted time!
There are two ways to book a hotel room using the room block at Hotel Peter + Paul. You can either follow this direct link where it is already set up for you (https://reservations.travelclick.com/114648?groupID=4042999) or you can use the following instructions! 1. Visit www.hotelpeterandpaul.com to book your room in the group block 2. In the upper left section of the website, click the icon that looks like three parallel lines 3. Click "Book a Room" 4. Click the drop-down option next to "Add Code" and choose "Group Attendee" 5. Enter your Group Block Code and click "ADD" (The code is G418) 6. Follow the prompts to complete your booking *Note: The room block will expire and group rates will no longer be available after December 31, 2023. *Note: The Grande Loft beds are located up a spiral staircase in the lofted area, so anyone with mobility challenges will need to write a note of that in the Guest Notes section when booking so they are not assigned to those rooms.
You are welcome to drive and park in the reserved areas for both our wedding ceremony and reception. If you are not driving, we recommend utilizing carpooling, Lyft, or Uber to get to the ceremony and from the reception. If you plan on using a service like Lyft or Uber, make sure you familiarize yourself with it if you have not used it previously. We will have transportation available to take you from the ceremony to the reception!
The ceremony will begin at 3 in the afternoon. We suggest guests arrive 15-20 minutes before in order to settle in comfortably! Please plan out travel arrangements well in advance to calculate the travel time from your hotel to our ceremony venue, Hotel Peter + Paul. Make sure to consider things like traffic, parking, and walking time to avoid being late. If you arrive at the start of the ceremony, you will be kept outside of the venue until the bride's entrance has finished.
As it is a celebration, second lines are a popular tradition among New Orleans weddings. They are brass band parades that signify the beginning of a new life together. The newlyweds lead the procession while dancing to New Orleans jazz, umbrellas in hand, while the wedding party and guests follow the band with handkerchiefs. This is a unique aspect of our wedding that we have decided to incorporate and hope our guests have fun with!
Our wedding ceremony and reception will both take place indoors! However, our 2nd line parade celebration following the ceremony will occur outside, so, please be prepared to walk on the street or sidewalks! Though we want as many of our guests to participate in this New Orleans tradition, the comfort and well-being of our guests are more important to us! If you are unable or don't feel comfortable participating, we completely understand! There is absolutely no pressure!
Early in March, the afternoon high temperatures tend to be in the upper 60s while the overnight lows average in the low to mid-50s. Obviously, we will not have a better guess until we are a few weeks out, so we highly suggest checking the forecast during your packing and preparation. The 2nd line parade will take place outside, so if you are planning on participating in the New Orleans tradition, please keep the weather in mind!
Yes! Our reception venue, Southern Oaks, will have an open bar featuring wine, beer, champagne, spirits, mixed drinks, daiquiris, mocktails, sodas, and other non-alcoholic beverages! An open bar means drinks are unlimited and free of charge to our guests, so please do not bring any outside alcohol to our reception, as they will ask you to get rid of it. Additionally, please make sure to have your ID as you may be asked to show it at the bar.
At Southern Oaks, over 80 expertly prepared hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, and entrees will be served butler style throughout the entire duration of the reception. If you have any severe allergies or dietary restrictions, please make a note of it on your RSVP (there will be an option to type it out).
Of course! We want our reception to be fun for everyone and would love to have a portion of our music be chosen by our guests! We have given you the opportunity to make three song requests in advance as there will be an option to type out your songs on your RSVP!
Your presence is certainly appreciated and a gift in itself, but should you wish to bring a gift to our wedding, there will be a gift table at our reception for your convenience. If you are out of state, cannot attend our wedding, or do not wish to travel with a gift, feel free to ship any gifts to 103 River Oaks Dr. Madison, AL 35758! Again, we are more than grateful for your support.
