Mike and Tinea connected through social media. After, a long night of messaging they decided to meet for drinks. Tinea and Mike fell in love with each other the moment they met but Tinea decided to played it cool for a month before she decided to tell Mike how she really felt.

Mike proposed to Tinea in the corner of the end zone under the Totem pole at Catawba College. He chose this spot because Catawba College is where he met his best friends and he wanted a location that he knew they would visit every year.
