Things To Do

Kentucky is famous for its bourbon and horses. June is a beautiful month to visit a few of Kentucky's distilleries and drive through the countryside! If you're planning to stay a little longer, let us know. Mammoth Cave and the Corvette Museum are just two of the nearby overnight trips that you might want to squeeze into your time here.

Woodford Reserve Distillery

7855 McCracken Pike, Versailles, KY 40383
, (859) 879-1812

Woodford Reserve is one of our favorite distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Tours can be booked online and last one hour. They are followed by a bourbon tasting!

Buffalo Trace Distillery

113 Great Buffalo Trace, Frankfort, KY 40601
, (502) 696-5926

Buffalo Trace is located in Frankfort, Kentucky's capital. Tours are free and reservations aren't required for the standard tour. A tasting follows the tour.

Makers Mark Distillery

3350 Burks Spring Road, Loretto, KY 40037
, (270) 865-7220

Maker's Mark is a little out of the way, but in addition to taking a distillery tour, you can dip your own Maker's Mark bottle during your visit.

Country Boy Brewing

436 Chair Avenue, Lexington, KY 40508
, (859) 554-6200

This is our favorite brewery in Lexington. Shotgun Wedding and Cougar Bait are the most popular beers, but there are always a couple dozen on tap.

Castle and Key Distillery

Castle and Key Distillery

4445 McCracken Pike, Frankfort, KY 40601
, (859) 873-2481

We are so excited for Castle & Key to open its distillery to the public soon. Formerly the Old Taylor Distillery, it has been abandoned for over 40 years until purchased in 2014. A rye whiskey is planned for release in 2018, crafted by the only female Master Distiller in Kentucky.

Lexington Distillery District

Lexington Distillery District

1170 Manchester Street, Lexington, KY 40508

One of the newest revitalization projects in Lexington, the Distillery District includes a few of our favorite places - Ethereal Brewing, Goodfellas Pizzeria, Crank & Boom ice cream, and Middle Fork restaurant.

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

3501 Lexington Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330
, (859) 734-5411

Shaker Village is one of our all-time favorite places (and the location of our engagement photos). Tour the Historic Centre, which was home to the third largest Shaker Community in the United States for 105 years, or hike in the 3,000 acres of land surrounding the village.

Graze

Graze

207 South Limestone, Lexington, KY 40508
, (859) 309-9686

Graze is our favorite restaurant in Kentucky. We prefer its original location (150 Combs Ferry Rd., Winchester KY), but if you want to stay in Lexington, its downtown location is still top-notch. The menu rotates based upon locally-available meat and veggies, but they will work with you on any dietary restrictions. Reservations are recommended.

Heirloom Restaurant

Heirloom Restaurant

125 East Main Street, Midway, KY 40347
, (859) 846-5565

Located in the historic downtown of Midway, Heirloom is a delicious local restaurant. Reservations recommended.

Keeneland Race Track

Keeneland Race Track

4201 Versailles Road, Lexington, KY 40510
, (859) 254-3412

While Keeneland racing only occurs in April and October, it's worth a visit to the track's beautiful grounds. Tours are available year-round.

Horse Farms Tours, Inc.

Horse Farms Tours, Inc.

Lexington, KY
, (859) 268-2906

There are several companies that offer tours through Kentucky horse farms. Pickup is available at many hotels throughout Lexington, and tours include several stops. This is a good way to learn more about the Thoroughbred industry in the Horse Capital of the World!
