When Savira still had a huge crush on Michael, she got a limited edition Frank Sinatra record from this historical record store that Michael still plays today on his record player. The original location was the Dome but since the Dome closed down, its moved right across from where we met. If you're a fan of music, and vintage stores, this is the place to go.
When Michael and I were young and free, we loved taking the metro to go on little excursions to downtown LA, home to many historical sites. One of the most intriguing places we went to was The Last Bookstore. While you’re there, you should check out the Grand Central Market (a food court opened to several local vendors since 1917), eat mochi at the oldest confectionery store Fugestu-Do (opened since 1903) and honestly while you’re there, walk around Little Tokyo as well, and if you want to stop by Union Station, right across the street you’ll find what they call “the birthplace of Los Angeles, “Olvera Street”, a hub for Mexican American heritage where you can find folk art, pottery, textiles and many more.
A fan of diner food, libraries, and vintage movie theaters? This street is such a cute date street . We would frequent this joint in our early days, then walk down the street to catch a movie at the vintage theater called Los Feliz 3. Just down the street too, theres a great library called Skylight Books.
Literally our favorite place, and our favorite street we frequent every halloween season. Start with the most incredible pastries at Portos (or even a chicken plate), then just walk down Magnolia where you'll find MANY vintage stores, VHS stores, more coffee, and even spooky things like Halloween Town, and The Mystic Museum (the strangest but coolest store where you'll find skeletons, horror movie merch, and sometimes they even have pop up walk throughs)
If you find yourself going south to San Diego, and you love kettlecorn by the beach with the sounds of helpless screaming off an old rollercoaster, say no more. Visit Belmont Park where Michael and Savira professed their love for each other the first time.
