How We Met

Summer of 2020. A summer full of car picnics, face masks, and late night adventures.

Sasha's Point of View

First off, thank you Bumble (Dating App). I don’t know how I found Michael. Or why I swiped right, because he did not have anything on his profile. I just thought he was cute. But once we “matched” I just loved talking to him. We would just text back and forth in Aug/Sept of 2020. I knew it was love when he asked me about my books. “Do you prefer hardcovers or paperbacks?” I love books and he knew how to sweet talk me. We first met in Sept of 2020. I drove to meet him. We decided to meet at a park close to his house. I did get a little bit lost. It was embarrassing to call him for the first time to ask for directions. It was still crazy how I never told anyone where I was going…oops. Lucky, he wasn’t a serial killer or a weirdo. Michael hopped in my car and we went to Dutch Bros. He never had it. It was my idea, so I paid on the first date. We couldn’t do much because of Covid-19. We stayed in my car, parked in front of a playground, and talked for hours until I had to go to work. Best Date Ever! I did almost kill us on the drive back to his house. The semi truck came out of nowhere. It didn’t scare him because that year he kept getting back in my car and we continued to have car picnic dates.

Michael's Point of View

I moved here and decided to download Bumble.(big shout out to Bumble). I saw Sasha on the app and I thought she was very beautiful and her profile was very quirky and funny. We were texting for a good two weeks before we met in person. We planned our first day, we were going to hang out in her car before she had to go to work. I was working the night shift at the time, so when I got off work in the morning I was excited to meet her in person. I think I only got 2- 3 hours of sleep that day because of how excited I was. When I was waiting for her to pick me up at the park, she said she was there but I couldn’t find her or see her. I checked her geolocation on Snapchat and she was at a park but the wrong park, 2 blocks away. Everything got figured out and she found me. I do think that was the most I have ever laughed on a first date and I do think that is the moment I started falling in love with her.
