One night in April 2006 Michael and some of his friends at his job were celebrating a successful remodel of a new store. They headed to Springfield, MA to a club called Rain, it was the newest club there. There was a large group including his best friend Jon. They both wanted to dance but the rest of the group wanted to drink and enjoy the evening. After about an hour of dancing Michael headed to the bathroom to get refreshed. That’s when he saw the most beautiful woman in the world standing outside the bathroom. He thought to himself, she doesn’t look like she’s having a good night. As he left placed his hand on her cheek and said “you’re too Beautiful to not be having a good time” and walked away. Rebeca, intrigued by his charm set out to find Michael a while later. When she finally caught up with him she had this smile that melted Michaels heart instantly. They began dancing the night away, as if they were the only 2 in the club, suddenly Rebeca said she would be right back. Michael continued dancing, until Rebeca came back with 3 large football players. “This is him”. Michael was introduced to her friends who she was out with that night. Michael rejoined his party and said his good nights. When everyone began filing out, Michael saw her and knew he wanted to see her again. He offered his number and asked her to do breakfast or ice cream. She was reluctant to take Michaels number. Days passed. Weeks passed. Michael never thought he would hear from her again. Until one night his Nextel phone which didn’t receive text messages at the time received a message “hey are you going to be heading out tonight” from an unknown Massachusetts number. Michael excited that it might be her, messaged back agreeing to meet her at “Rain” again. This time she brought her really close friends Lori and Glori. After another great evening filled with dancing, they agreed to meet for lunch at their still favorite place “On the Border” That is how the story of the 2 love birds began.

Michael came up with this intricate plot to bring Rebeca back to the island she was raised on to propose to her. He purchased tickets for Rebeca for her birthday to “vacation”. While a complete agenda was planned to venture around Puerto Rico, Michael didn’t know exactly how he would do it once there and thought when the moment would come he would know. On the very first day Michael and Rebeca were able to enjoy the beach in San Juan and the sunset was perfect. Rebeca however was not feeling well after the flight and Michael saved the moment. They then traveled into the “campo” or countryside to visit her father where they planned to stay for a few days. After day one Michael had enough! They decided to head out on their adventures and headed to the Rainforest. Michael decided to take the backroads and found the absolute perfect place on the way. It was a spot that had a serene waterfall with an opening that showed miles and miles of beach and peacefulness. When he stopped the vehicle he brought her to the perfect spot in the middle of it all with no one else around dropped to one knee and asked her if she would be his wife and would like to spend the rest of her life with him. Rebeca in complete awe and unaware that this was the intentions of the trip said “Yes” and tears welt up in both of their eyes. This was the moment that changed them forever.
