Michael and Moriah’s first interaction was back in 2016 at Wilkes Community College. They had a boring history class together and had no clue it would lead to where they are today. Other than small talk at WCC, a brief interaction at App State, and attending a small group one time together, the couple didn’t think much of each other. In August of 2024, Michael saw Moriah’s profile appear on his feed and decided to reach out and ask if she was the same girl who attended WCC all those years ago. To Michael’s surprise, Moriah responded the next morning, saying she was the same girl and wished him a happy birthday. The timing of Moriah and Michael meeting is very special to the two of them. It is redeeming to Michael because a year prior he was hospitalized with serious health concerns and had to spend his birthday there. One year later, he met the love of his life. As the couple started messaging back and forth, they quickly realized that they both were living in Wilkes, worked right around the corner from each other, and attended the same church. They also discovered in the middle of dating that they both first visited Unified City Church on the same day back in December of 2021 (look at God go)…but it wasn’t meant to be at that time. After about two weeks of talking consistently, the couple happened to park next to one another at church. Michael was fully consumed by his fantasy football league that he didn’t even see Moriah walking with her daughter to her car. As Moriah walked by, she said “hey”. Michael was completely shocked to see her standing there, but ended the conversation by asking her out on a coffee date, and the rest is history (and not the boring class at WCC). The next ten months were full of walks on the Greenway, fun day trips, bangin’ concerts, bussin’ meals, and yes, more coffee dates. Michael was there for Moriah’s wisdom teeth removal, and Moriah was there for Michael’s job removal. Proving in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, they were committed to one another. Michael made the commitment official by buying a ring from Michael’s Jewelry (not his own secret stash in his bedroom dresser) and dedicating his life to Moriah, promising to raise a godly family with her, and Moriah said yes… seriously. She said yes to him. Moriah and Michael are both excited to welcome all their friends and family on December 5th, 2025. We hope you will join this heartwarming occasion in the cold mountains of Roaring River, North Carolina, and celebrate this lovely couple in their holy union!
