It started in the most unexpected way on a TikTok live, surrounded by a group of people who had no idea they were witnessing the beginning of something real. At some point, we exchanged contact information, and what was meant to be a quick first call turned into six hours of effortless conversation, laughing, talking, and realizing just how much we had in common. Nothing about it felt forced or unfamiliar. It felt like we had known each other for years. There was an instant connection, natural, easy, and unlike anything we had experienced before. From that very first conversation, we both knew something was different. It didn’t feel like meeting someone new, it felt like finding someone we had always known. Before anything else, we became best friends. At the time, neither of us was looking for a relationship. We had both come from difficult past experiences and were simply focused on ourselves. But somehow, without trying, we found something we weren’t even searching for. And we clicked instantly. We were living in different states, Michael in California and Madison in Texas, but distance didn’t seem to matter. We talked every single night for hours, and somewhere along the way, those conversations turned into something deeper. Falling in love with someone you’ve never met sounds crazy until it happens to you. And when it did, we both knew this was different. This was real. When we finally met in person, everything just made sense. One of our favorite first memories is something so simple, but it still says everything about us. We had stopped at a gas station, and as Madison was walking back to the car, she accidentally ran into it, (because clumsy moments are part of the story). At that exact same second, we both looked at each other and said, “There is a car there.” We paused, looked away, then looked back at each other again at the exact same time, realizing we had just said the exact same thing. And we just started laughing. It was one of those small, unexplainable moments that somehow meant everything. It’s something we’ve never been able to explain, only feel. Eight months later, we were at GridLife Laguna Seca, watching Michael do what he’s loved since he was four years old, race. What Madison didn’t know was that he had been planning something for months. The plan was to propose on the podium. The only problem was he had to earn his way there for his plan. After a mechanical issue in qualifying, his car broke and he was forced to start in 35th place out of 40 cars. It was a four race weekend, with every race counting toward the final score. In race one, he pushed from 35th to 11th. In race two, he fought his way to 1st place (a man on a mission). In race three, he finished 2nd. And in the final race, while leading, he missed a shift and crossed in 4th. It came down to the points. Just enough to place 3rd overall. Just enough to make the podium. In front of friends, family, and a crowd full of people, after a weekend where everything was on the line, he turned to Madison and asked her to spend forever with him. Since then, Michael made the move from California to Texas to begin this next chapter together, building a life side by side. Through every moment, big and small, one thing has always stayed the same. We are best friends. What started as a random conversation became something neither of us could have planned, something steady, genuine, and deeply ours. A love that feels like home. A connection we truly believe was meant to be. And now, we can’t wait to celebrate the beginning of forever with you. Also, yes… we still say the same things at the same time.
