The most iconic sight in the York area is the Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse, and viewing it is one of our favorite things to do in York, Maine. Located at the end of Long Sands Beach, the lighthouse is on Cape Neddick Point, which is inaccessible to the general public but you can venture out to get a view of the lighthouse from the mainland at Soheir Park.
Within walking distance to Union Bluff, York’s only zoo and amusement park is sure to entertain. Explore the park and see both exotic and local wildlife, in addition to enjoying the rides and games.
The Goldenrod is a traditional stop for many generations of families over the last 115 years. Homemade treats, fudge, ice cream and, of course, their famous New England salt water taffy, “Goldenrod Kisses".
Located right on Short Sands Beach and next to the Union Bluff, Fun-O-Rama provides plenty of activities and games for young and old alike. Bowl a few strings or play both vintage and new arcade games.
The Wiggly Bridge is a hidden gem located at the jetty crossing York River next to Barrells Millpond. The world's smallest suspension bridge, the site is well worth a visit. Once over the bridge, you can walk a 1.4 mile trail (Steedman Woods) through charming oak trees that stretch over the adjacent salt marshes.
Wiggly Bridge Distillery has two locations, one being a short three minute walk from the Meeting House offering tasting of their samples all day. Their Barn location (about a 10 minute drive) offers tours of the Distillery.
For all of our avid golfers staying for the weekend, the Ledges Golf Club offers one of finest golf experiences on the seacoast. Designed for both 9 and 18 memorable holes, the course offers a fair and demanding test throughout this beautiful New England terrain.
Cape Neddick Country Club is a historic and picturesque 18-hole semi-private golf course is the perfect choice for guests wanting to golf while also taking in the incredible scenery that Maine boasts. The newly renovated two tiered all grass driving range and USGA approved putting greens are open for practice. Private or group lessons are also offered for all ability levels.
The Links at Outlook, as the name suggests, is a links-style course located in South Berwick. It’s a par 72 championship course designed by architect Brian Silva in the traditional Scottish style. You can expect some challenging holes and beautiful views at this course.
