It all started with a phone and breakfast. Back during my waitressing days he came into the diner for breakfast as he usually did on Fridays. I said "good morning" and he ignored me. I must've repeated myself two or three times, but he kept ignoring me because he was too busy on his phone. The nerve?! So, I did what I knew I had to: I took his phone right out of his hands. He definitely wasn't expecting that but he looked intrigued....and that's where it all began. We flirted when he ate his breakfast (I may have thrown a few creamers at him from behind the counter) and I couldn't help but notice that his phone was nowhere in sight. While it was fun and made my waitressing days a lot more interesting, it was short lived. I landed a new job which meant I could no longer waitress and we never spoke again. Months, maybe a year went by, and this is when he'll tell you I "stalked" him. In reality, all I did was ask a friend to give him my number the next time he came into the diner, which she did, secretly, on a napkin, and told him he would need that when he set it aside next to his plate of food. I would've loved a video of that exchange. Three days went by with no call or text, so typical of Mike now that I really know him (after all he took me on a trip to propose only to wait until the last day of our trip on our way to the airport to pop the question on the most magical beach in the Florida Keys). Finally on the fourth day of having my number, he decided to text. Things moved quickly after that and he didn't waste any time. He asked me out on a date during that initial conversation and planned the most magical first date ever on October 12, 2019. "You only get one first date" is what he said to me when I confessed that it was a date I'll never forget. What was supposed to be "just a date" turned into our last first date because we've been inseparable ever since.
