A long anticipated trip to Jamaica was right around the corner. We'd been planning, prepping and packing for weeks. An early morning flight with the grandmas, Aunt Laura, Mom, Dad and Greenlee. We arrive at the airport, we start to get checked in only to be told Michael couldn't board the flight because his passport was "too damaged." So the gang travels on without Dad. Michael spends the entire day running around trying to get his passport while we carry on. Once we get to Orlando, we go to board the flight. Granny, Me and Bean are the last to board. They are holding us up but aren't telling us why. We find out that Greenlee is not on my reservation (She was on Michaels but he switched it earlier) and that if we travel to Jamaica they won't let her come back into the states. I cry, they accuse us of trying to get away with something, I cry more, they tell us it's okay, just to call the airline when we get there. We make it, we spend the first day without Michael. He arrives the second day. The second day we carry on and enjoy the day UNTIL... Granny gets back to her room. Her back wall is covered in ants. Yep! A black wall of ants trailing to our room right above hers. Not knowing what to do, they spray insect poison all over her room and then tell us there are no rooms for her too move to. They find a room on the fancier side of the resort. I have no access to it. I can't reach her. I finally get to her, they move her back. The management is awful. We all move rooms. We try to salvage our time. We get ready with scolding hot or freezing cold showers. We are going to walk out to watch the sunset with the family before dinner. Granny is still not ready and tells us to go ahead. Michael insists I make her come, she refuses and insists we go ahead. We get out there, it is beautiful. It is perfect. We are taking pictures as a family of 3. Micheal bends down to pick something up off the ground and on one knee holds up a ring. The rest is history!
We realize that during this very unknown time that the fate of our wedding is out of our hands. We also understand that everyone's comfort level needs to be taken under consideration. With this in mind, we will do our best to update you with information and the precautions we are taking to keep our family and friends safe. We also understand that traveling may not be something you wish to do and because of the way we are doing our wedding, last minute changes will not affect us so much - so please do whatever you feel is best in regards to attending. Although, weather permitted, we expect to have our ceremony on the beach, we do recommend you bring your own mask to wear if you wish. We will not have chairs 6 ft apart but we may have family sections arranged with spacing. We will be keeping the food inside, drinks outside for the reception. We will have tables scattered throughout with groupings with mostly family, when we are able. Tables will be released at different times so there won't be many people "gathering" all at once. Please check back for updates or feel free to call us with questions or concerns. Here's to hoping our nuptials and celebration will go as planned. :)
To add to the wedding fun, we will have an anniversary pinata on display at the wedding reception. We are asking everyone that is able to attend to please make sure to add a photo, a note/advice, an item or a "treat" for us to enjoy on our anniversary next year.
Okay, not really. One requirement is a shirt and pants/shorts! There is not a formal dress code for the wedding. Most of the wedding party will be very formal and the groom and brides father will be in slacks and a jacket (no tie). We want our guests to be comfortable and relaxed.
We are going to begin our very informal wedding rehearsal starting at 3:30pm on the 8th. No vendors will be present we will just more or less be working on timing of how long it will take everyone to get down the "aisle" and making sure the kids know what to do. :) Following the rehearsal, a food truck will arrive at 5:00pm and we will enjoy dinner outside (weather permitting). Check out the truck at: https://www.forketmenot.com/ *Seafood is on the menu but they will be accommodating anyone that may have allergies. We are 3 weeks out and can't wait to see everyone!
