We both had our parents drag us along to meet. "It'll be good for you!" They seemed to say. When Kim and I, individually, got the news that someone arranged for us to meet, we were both a bit annoyed 😅. But we started talking, and after taking her and our families out to a buffet, I decided I wanted to take a chance, and asked for her Insta. I wasn't sure if she liked me, and Kim wasn't sure if I liked her, so when I reached my hand out for a handshake (oof!) Kim responded with a little side hug. You know, the kind you give your bros (we laugh about it to this day, lol). We started talking little by little, and I couldn't help but be drawn to her Kim’s side ☺️ As Michael said, when my parents told me they had arranged for me to meet someone, I was a bit annoyed. I was expecting an awkward dinner, yet instead, I got to see his kind, genuine and quietly thoughtful side – all on our very first meeting. It was unexpected to me in the best way. When he nervously asked for my instagram at the dinner, and reached out for a handshake later when we were about to say bye, I kind of panicked (honestly I was nervous too – I was just trying not to lose my cool lol ). So instead, I chose to give him the most awkward side hug imaginable. Not romantic. Not smooth. Just… very much like me. Michael still makes fun of me for that moment, and we still laugh about it. We didn’t know it then, but that simple, awkward interaction was the beginning of our everything. What started as just some casual conversations turned into everyday texts. Then long late-night calls and 21qashared jokes. Then those “How did I ever not know you?” moments. From 0…to 100…to 10,000 !! Somewhere in between, Michael became my favorite person. Somehow, the meeting that I didn't even want to go to became the beginning of my forever— a forever I never want to lose. And guess what, on August 9, 2026 I get to marry my best friend, my forever, the greatest love of my life – Michael Lim – the very same man that I almost didn’t want to meet.
