Michael and Kimberly’s story began in an unexpected place, Target, on an early morning in April 2023. Both were doing a little early-bird shopping when they passed each other in the aisle, exchanged a polite good morning, and continued on their way. But that brief moment wasn’t the end of the story. A little later, Michael approached Kimberly and introduced himself, apologizing in advance because he didn’t want to interrupt her shopping experience. Kimberly noticed his University of Houston jacket and mentioned that she was a U of H graduate. With a smile, Michael joked that he was probably there long before she was. After a lighthearted conversation, the two exchanged numbers and went on about their day. Life got busy, and months passed without any communication—until one day Kimberly received a random text with a news story. It was Michael. As Kimberly would soon learn, Michael is always tuned in to local, national, international and sports news. That text message turned into a phone call, and that phone call turned into hours of conversation. Their first date was a simple lunch at Salata, but it came with a moment neither of them will forget. An older woman nearby stopped to tell Michael how beautiful Kimberly was and how lucky he was. They both laughed, but Michael secretly knew she was absolutely right. Since August 2023, Michael and Kimberly have been inseparable. Together they have celebrated life’s most beautiful moments, including witnessing the birth of their two precious godchildren. They have also stood side by side through life’s more difficult seasons, supporting each other through the loss of loved ones and life’s more tender moments. Michael later proposed in July 2025 at Kimberly’s parents’ home, surrounded by family, a moment filled with love and joy. What Kimberly loves most about Michael is his heart and the way he loves her and her family unconditionally. He also inspires her to think deeper; see the world in new ways and to slow down and live in the moment. Michael loves Kimberly’s spirituality, her thoughtfulness, her strong value system, her intelligence, and the way her sense of humor brings light and joy to their lives. Looking back, they both believe that God knew exactly what each of them needed and brought them together at precisely the right time. And now, they can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of their story together.
