We met while I was at work. I worked at BioLife at the time. I didn't notice Michael at first, but I ended up doing his donation stick. We talked the whole time he was there. Michael left and I didn't think much after that. After work, I got a notification on my phone. He had followed me on social media and liked some of my pictures I had posted. A few weeks past, and I messaged him and asked him to text me. After that, it was pretty much destiny.
Michael had planned a whole surprise engagement at his family's Lake Cabin. He kept it a complete secret from me. He told me that we were going to celebrate my birthday early this year. Michael told me that his dad had made reservations at a "nicer restaurant" in town, so we had to be on time and dressed nice. On the way there, Michael told me that his dad called and said that we had to meet at the Cabin first before heading to the restaurant. I still had no idea what was going on. When we arrived, Michael told me his parents were arguing about a decoration mishap and I had to go inside right away to help his mom. He took Graham (our little guy) and I made my way inside. I saw Mary sitting at the kitchen table with a BUNCH of food and a cake. I thought, "Oh yay, birthday cake and food!". Then I heard, "SURPRISE!" yelled from behind me. It was our close friends there to celebrate! I still thought this was for my birthday. Michael came in and said that Graham had blown through his diaper, so he brought him into the room the change him. Again, I thought nothing of it and was not going to argue if we wanted to change him (that mean’t I didn't have to do it)! Mary then told us that she wanted everyone outside so she could show them where she had fallen the previous weeks before so that no one would make the same mistake. We all followed her outside, and then Michael and Graham made their way shortly after. Michael handed me Graham and I started to walk away. I went to give Graham a little kiss on his head and noticed that his onesie he had on read, "Will you marry daddy?" I gasped, turned around, and saw Michael down on one knee. I screamed, shouted "YES," and we were engaged. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Detroit Lakes!
