Travel Note

AirportsAirports

Holland, Michigan is about 3 hours by car from the Chicago airports, an hour from the Kalamazoo airport (AZO), and 40 minutes from the Grand Rapids airport (GRR). Grand Rapids is probably your best bet.

Travel Note

CoffeeeeeeCoffeeeeee

Stovetop is our favorite coffee in town. Portlanders, go here: Stovetop Roastery, 180 E 40th Street St 400, Holland, MI 49423. Open most days 8 AM-2 PM. Simpatico Coffee is also good, and near the hospital, which is near the church: 714 Michigan Ave, Holland, MI 49423.

Travel Note

SaugatuckSaugatuck

Saugatuck-Douglas is about 15 minutes south of Holland. LGBTQ+ friendly, quaint, walkable and fun, this would also be a good place to look for inns and beach rentals. Saugatuck Dunes State Park (https://saugatuck.com/business/saugatuck-dunes-state-park-2/) is north of town for hiking and swimming at the beach, and Mt. Baldhead (https://saugatuck.com/business/mount-baldhead/) as well as the trails around OxBow are across the river from downtown Saugatuck. You can easily spend an afternoon here.

Travel Note

Candy!Candy!

The Peanut Store is an old-timey candy store in downtown Holland that still roasts peanuts. I'd say this and Captain Sundae (two locations, neither downtown) will take care of the sweetest of sweet teeth. Yum.

For all the days along the way
