In March of 2020, during the beginning of COVID, Jackie and Mike first met as most people did at the time... over the phone. During this time, Mike had been tasked with overseeing a small section of his department, requiring him to call the courthouse directly. Although Mike commonly spoke with Jackie's colleagues at the courthouse, he would interact with Jackie from time to time. When the pandemic hit, Mike's phone number found its way into Jackie's possession, and so did a long, productive, and often challenging professional relationship. Mike constantly asking for favors for his building, and Jackie demanding favors for hers. It wasn't long before Mike would look at his caller ID and think to himself, do I really want to deal with her today or should I pawn the call off on one of my officers? Mike would often require his officers to deal with the loud, fiery girl on the other end of the phone. Mike was only able to escape the calls about 50% of the time. As time passed, Mike and Jackie developed a professional friendship, and talking to each other turned out to be much less of a daunting task than either of them originally thought. On Thanksgiving of that same year, Mike mistakenly sent Jackie a photo of his kids decorating their Christmas tree, a text originally meant for Mike's mom. Meanwhile, Jackie was enjoying Thanksgiving in Florida with her parents when she received the random text that would eventually lead to something much greater than anyone could have expected. Jackie responded, commenting on her love of Christmas trees and lights. From that point on, Mike and Jackie rarely found a moment they weren't talking throughout the day, whether it was for work or just talking about life. Their love story had officially begun.
