We both attended Chris and Amanda Grigsby's wedding and shared a few glances, before we knew it we both ended up on the dance floor together. As the night went on we shared conversations about life, travel, and trying to figure out why our friends did not introduce us to one another before that evening. Little did we know a night of fun at the wedding would lead us down our own road and to a wedding day for us.

A few months before the end of 2022 a random trip to the Florida Mall had us stop at a Helzberg Diamonds to have some fun and look at engagement rings. Knowing that Heather is a matter of fact women and knows what she likes we had her try on a few, and before we knew it she found one she loved. Little did she know a few months later, as 2023 started I hatched a plan. Knowing that summer would be her family's reunion in Illinois I figured what could be a better time. The months leading to July flew by in what seemed a blur and before I knew it I was sitting at the table surrounded by Heather's family and getting pretty nervous. As the party started to calm I decided to talk a walk outside and tell Heather I was getting my jacket (slick idea). As I grabbed the ring and walked back inside, there she was, standing with her Grandma and I knew this was the time. I kneeled down and waited for what seemed like a year before she turned and I asked her to marry me. YES! Later on as I told the story to Heather she mentioned that it seemed odd I never returned with my jacket....not all plans are perfect, but even so that doesn't matter as long as the end result is the same.
