What started as a friend helping a friend by giving them a drive to work turned into a beautiful love story. In the summer of 2022, Michael gave Hallie a ride to their work at the Chattanooga Red Wolves stadium. All of Hallie's usual friends who drove her were out of town, so she was left with two choices, save gas and ride with a friend or drive alone and waste gas. Obviously, Hallie chose to save gas because why not?!? The ride there was mega awkward. Silence followed by more silence. We made it to work and ended up having to stay late due to storms and delay in the game. On the ride home, we needed gas. So we went to any gas station trying to find one open past 11:30 pm on a Saturday night. The task turned more challenging than expected. There was one sketch gas station we stopped at for food and gas. Once we made it the conversations picked up, and we were both laughing, scrolling through Michaels music, and sharing memories. Despite the absolute blast of a drive home, we didn't initially take it much further. We texted pretty often, but always as friends. One day, Aspen, Hallie's adorable dog, got preggo with some puppies on accident. Since they were still talking, Hallie told Michael this wacky but exciting news! He immediately wanted one, obviously trying to stay in Hallie's life. Eventually, he got one but by this point Michael confessed his feelings for Hallie and she shared with him that she didn't feel the same. They continued to text and talk and finally once he could take the puppy home they talked again about feelings. Hallie wanted to tell him she liked him but got too scared and told him no again. After this it was after thanksgiving and the conversations between them died down. No more texting late at night and having question time and no more random yap sessions. It all ended. Well a month later in January, Hallie randomly texted Michael out of the blue. They share a love for shoes so she of course had to show the boy she hadn't talked to in a month those new shoes. Michael of course baffled answered her but with caution. It shortly dwindled out and we didn't text again. Hallie's dad asked her to take Aspen and her puppies for a play date. She didn't want to reach out to anyone but to honor her dad she asked one person. You guessed it! Michael!!! March 15, 2023 marks the day we took the puppies for a walk and talk and haven't stopped talking since. Michael asked Hallie's mom and dad on May 28, 2023, to date her and they said yes. Later that night he asked her to be his official girlfriend! She said yes obviously and they haven't looked back. Each of them is the other first. First girlfriend/boyfriend, first kiss, first love. Michael's persistence after Hallie told him no two times meant a lot to her and still does. He is the most caring, patient, loving man anyone can ask for. He loves the Lord so well and he is going to be a great leader. He is also very funny, he makes Hallie cackle 24/7. But, the story doesn't stop there. And there is a reason that Michael continued to pursue Hallie. He saw things in her that he didn't see in anyone else. A strong love and desire for Christ, a radiant smile, beautiful personality, great friend, and the woman that felt like home. During the time that Michael and Hallie had stopped texting, he thought that was it and that he would end up with someone else. But, with every conversation he remembered why she was so special. Special enough to wait for, to continue pursuing, to continue growing closer to the Lord for, and to choose to love for the rest of his life. Then when it was time to buy the ring, to ask her parents, and to propose, the Lord continually confirmed their love. They are continuing to pursue the Lord and each other, and eagerly looking forward to the rest of their lives together.
