We spoke for the first time at our sons' 2017 All Star baseball tournament in Opp, Alabama. Fate had something to do with this for sure, as our rooms were directly across the hallway from one another. It forced conversation! For the next 6 months, I pretty much blew him off. That sounds terrible doesn't it! Looking back, I am so glad that he continued to pursue me. I had my mind completely made up that I would never be married again! I def wasn't going to date "Dylans Dad"! On New Year’s Eve, Noah wasn't happy that his big brother, Preston, had a party with friends to go to that evening, so he asked if he could have a friend over. When asked who he would like to have over, he said "Dylan". When Michael arrived with Dylan, conversation uncovered he had no plans and Katie was at a friend’s house. I asked him if he would like to stay until midnight and shoot some fireworks with us, and he did. The freezing temperatures made it tough to not "get close”. Simple arm to arm warmth led to a kiss when the boys yelled "Happy New Year" and took off to run a lap around the house! We laughed as they took off, connected, and the rest is history! ~~~~ I will never forget that New Year's Eve. I was so excited, yet so nervous to be hanging with HALLEY. She had a spread of food cooked, as she always does, but I could not eat much with my nerves. I was at Halley's house!!!...the woman that I had been dying to get to know. Our first kiss was at midnight, as we stood in the freezing cold in her driveway watching the fireworks. That first kiss feeling will never be forgotten. ~~~~ Lots of ups and downs, heartbreaks, and trials. We have both had our share of bad decisions and disappointments. But through it all, we gained many life lessons that have made us the people we are today. Had we not walked through those things, we would not be capable of loving each other the way we do. Nothing better than loving someone who you KNOW loves you back. We cannot wait to share our union with you!
