We are so thrilled to welcome all of our favorite people to Chicago to celebrate our wedding! Before that day comes, we want to share a little bit about how we met and how we've spent the last 5+ years together. Written by Haley, with Michael's consultation 😊 It was October 2020, and the only way to meet people during the height of COVID was on the dating apps, Hinge in our case. I was at my friend Meg and Connor's house for football Sunday, pretty defeated with the apps, so I handed mine over to Meg to message anything she wanted to the guys, which was simply hilarious to watch (she said some weird stuff). I stopped her when Michael's profile came up. It was him laying across a golf green with a sassy look on his face. I grabbed the phone and said "don't say anything weird to him, he actually seems fun." We messaged back and forth for a bit until we finally scheduled our first date on October 28, 2020. I had a prompt on Hinge that said "I know the best spot in town for cubanos." Michael asked me if he could take me to my second favorite cubano spot. I asked, confused, "why not my favorite?" He said, "If you don't like me, then I won't ruin your favorite cubano place for you" ... immediate points for Michael. We sat outside at my favorite Cuban restaurant Cafecito (outside because of Covid), then went back to my apartment and played Guitar Hero, then watched Star Wars. It was the perfect first date for both of us. Over the next four years we would travel to Spain, Greece, Ireland and more, move in together in Wicker Park, spend lots of time with our friends in Chicago and adopt our pride and joy, our King Charles Cavalier, Lando. In May 2024, Michael and I traveled to Paris where he asked me to marry him! These last five years have been the best years, we feel so fortunate to have found each other and we are so excited to spend forever together!
