It’s really just your average boy meets girl on sisters Snapchat and counts down the days until they meet in person. While Mike was living in Ottawa, Gaby was living in Mississauga. After Mike received a snap from his sister, Jacqui, he couldn’t help but notice a total fox. “Who’s the fox?” replied Mike. Jacqui answered with “That’s Gaby!!” and the name echoed in Mike’s head as he transcended to a land of rainbows, cotton candy, and Gaby. A few months later when Mike moved back home, Jacqui’s birthday party would allow Gaby and Mike to finally meet in person. It was a rough landing and a tough sell for Mike. Despite having a dead phone and a foot in his mouth all night, he successfully obtained Gaby’s phone number written on a napkin. Still pursuing love, Mike and Gaby went on a date, and another date, and more after that. From watching the Blue Jays defeat the Orioles to dancing alone on an abandoned stage while Mike sang “Stand By Me”, they were inseparable. “I like you” soon turned into “I love you” and dating turned into an engagement. Although it began in 2016, life felt like it was starting all over again in 2021.
