Michael and Evelyn met in high school in August of 2014, when their algebra teacher introduced Evelyn as the class math tutor. Evelyn remembers Michael being mischievous, often asking for help even when he didn’t need it, usually just to make her laugh. Eventually, his games got her in trouble for being distracted from her tutoring duties. After that class ended, they went their separate ways, but the memories stayed with them. Fast forward to January 2021, Michael reached out to Evelyn, and their conversations picked up right where they left off. When they reunited in person, they went to the beach to look at the stars and watch the waves crash along the shore. During that night, Michael tried to impress Evelyn by walking close to the water, thinking he looked good in the moonlight, until a wave crashed over his legs, soaking his pants and shoes. It didn’t go as planned, but it made the moment even more memorable. As they sat on the rocks laughing, they held hands for the first time. In that quiet moment, under the glow of the moonlight, Michael leaned in and they shared their first kiss. Afterwards, they looked back at the waves, wondering where life would take them and whether they might drift apart again. Sharing their thoughts, Michael told Evelyn, “We have to let the waves flow.” Now, after many waves—both calm and chaotic—they’re ready to celebrate their love and continue the journey together.
