The first day of Louisiana Tech University's freshman orientation is the day that starts it all. I found myself going down the stairwell of Bogard Hall; little did I know I would be meeting the love of my life there. Clumsy me dropped all my books all over the stairwell. A wonderful gentleman, Michael, steps into the stairwell and notices me in my predicament and helps pick up everything. A conversation started there and we exchanged contacts. We have been together ever since that day and it is the perfect fairy tale beginning to a love without end.
Liz and I have been planning this day for a few months and the time was finally right. She was in town for the night and we decided to have our first date. I picked her up from her hotel and right away I felt like she was totally out of my league. I brought her to our now favorite restaurant, Roma's. I knew that it was going to be a good night when I convinced her to try calamari; a food she never in her life thought she would try and even love. The night carried on and we took a walk through Louisiana Tech's campus. We talked for hours and by the end of the night I realized that this goofy but beautiful girl was going to be the one for me.
It was our four year anniversary of dating and we decided to go to of course, Roma's. The night started out lovely with us ordering my favorite, calamari. We had great conversation all night until I noticed Michael getting a little quite and maybe even nervous. I played it off like it was nothing; mostly because I was told to expect a proposal when I least expected so surely this wasn't it. We payed and left the restaurant like normal. We started to round the corner and all of a sudden Michael stops me and gets down on one knee and pops the question with a gorgeous ring! I was so surprised and to top it all off, he gathered all our family to be there and they were watching around the corner. Let's just say, I couldn't have asked for a better anniversary present!
