Michael and Dragana’s story started in the basement of a hospital. They crossed paths briefly while working at St. Luke’s as pharmacy interns, but it was little more than a passing hello. A year later, they ended up back in the same basement office. This time, they actually got to know each other. Michael’s first attempt at breaking the ice with Dragana was asking about her favorite radio station. She laughed. She thought radio was kind of old-school and gave him a hard time about it, as she does best. But then she turned the question around and asked what he thought she should listen to on her drive home. The next day, he handed her a handwritten playlist – proof that Michael takes music (and flirting) very seriously. She immediately showed it to her sister and brother-in-law, who took one look and thought, “Yeah…this guy is into you.” After a missed signal, they finally went on their first date – somewhere undeniably classy: a beer garden. They stayed until the lights were turned off around them, neither noticing that the place had long since cleared out. Looking back, that night was the start of it all. They realized they were falling for each other on Michael’s birthday. They slipped away from their friends and talked for hours on a walking bridge over Lincoln Memorial Drive, eating Garden Salsa SunChips until 3 a.m. By the end of the night, both knew this was the start of something real — and apparently Dragana’s sister did too, saying, “OMG, you are in love with him!” Since then, their story has included a first “I love you” on the 12th floor of a hospital parking garage (not exactly romantic, but memorable), dozens of handwritten letters, countless playlists, graduations, moving in together, and plenty of travel. They are excited to celebrate the next chapter with all of you—and cannot wait to see you in October!
